Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts sees yet another problematic reason that the controversial D.A. needs to go.

Currently, when suspects go and threaten schools with firearms, they need to be criminally charged. Unless, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon says otherwise.

A California suspect was recently arrested following his posting of threats towards a school on social media. Not only that, but he also had possession of a number of stolen guns. Still, despite all this, Gascon refused to file any sort of criminal charges.

“On March 21, 2023, the filing District Attorney at Downey Superior Court initially rejected the entire case, stating they needed additional information regarding the criminal threat,” a report by Bell Gardens police noted.

Following the absurd failure to press charges, the local police chief walked into Gascon’s office and demand charges be filed. As a result, he relented and filed three felony weapons charges against the suspect, including possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle and carrying a loaded handgun.

This brings the effectiveness of Gascon as the D.A. of Los Angeles further into question. “George Gascon refuses to prosecute juveniles in possession of firearms,” Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami, explained to Fox News. “It’s dangerous and a failure of the system.”

With this latest piece of evidence, is it time for Gascon to step down from his position before more damage is done?
