How Governor Abbott’s New Bill In Texas Is Setting a Precedent On How To Handle the Migrant Crisis

Law enforcement veteran Michael Letts believes President Biden could learn something from the controversial yet effective new bill.

With so many politicians up in arms about the ongoing migrant crisis (and doing very little about it), Gov. Greg Abbott has decided to do something about it for his citizens of Texas.

Earlier this week, Abbott signed a new bill that will now provide police officers the power to arrest migrants who illegally cross the U.S. border. What’s more, they will be given a choice – peacefully return to their country or face misdemeanor or greater felony charges at the hands of a Texas judge.

The law is set to go into effect in March, and while many will complain about how effective it would or would not be, it does mark a course of definitive action against the migrant crisis – especially at a time when President Joe Biden seems more concerned about overseas relations rather than taking care of his own country.

Joining us now to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt. Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His expertise in all things law and order make him an ideal subject for this interview.

Q&A:

  1. Let’s get right into it. Why is this bill a solid move forward for the fight against the migrant crisis in the United States?
  2. Could such a move provide enough reasoning to hire more police officers at a time when over governments are stagnant to do so?
  3. Do you believe, if effective, other states could adopt Texas’ law as their own? Perhaps even hire more Border Patrol agents in the process?
  4. Why do you believe President Biden is more concerned about smoothing over relations with other countries rather than working on his own? Is he trying to sweeten his reputation with his political allies?
  5. What would your response be to someone that may consider the Texas bill “inhumane” or endangering the lives of others?
  6. Is there anything you want to say to fellow police officers and Border Patrol agents for the holiday season?
  7. You’re the creator of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. Tell us more about that, and why support for fellow officers is so important right now.
  8. Where can we learn more about InVest USA, and how those interested can help their fellow officers.
  9. You can visit our official InVest USA website, and learn more on the official Invest USA Twitter account. You can also learn about my new initiative at RestoringJustice.US, where we discuss lawful issues surrounding citizens of the United States.
