WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Monday, March 24th, during the most recent Cabinet meeting, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning to those who have allegedly engaged in government fraud, letting them know, "We're coming after you."
According to Fox News, speaking with President Donald Trump at the meeting, Bondi thanked Elon Musk for uncovering "fraud, waste, and abuse" through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative. She said, "A lot of waste and abuse, but there is a tremendous amount of fraud. And, Elon, thank you for your partnership. Thank you for your team. You have uncovered so much fraud in our government."
After that comment, Bondi revealed to the Cabinet that an internal task force will be involved with bringing those accused of fraud to justice. She warned, "We will prosecute you. We have an internal task force now working with every single agency sitting here at this table. And if you've committed fraud, we're coming after you. Thank you, Elon."
Bondi also mentioned that, under Trump's directive, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will begin seeking the death penalty for those convicted of violent crimes. She said, "All of those horrible violent criminals that you're hearing about around the country, they will face the death penalty federally within our country.
And the drug dealers need to get out of here because we are coming after you. We're going to have 94 great U.S. attorneys around this country and everyone will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Throughout the Cabinet meeting, the topic of government fraud was mentioned on multiple occasions, with Musk claiming that he found $330 million worth of waste within the Small Business Administration (SBA). Musk said, "[We found] a case of fraud and waste with the Small Business Administration, where they were handing out $330 million worth of loans to people under the age of 11. I think the youngest was a nine month year [sic] old who got a $100,000 loan."
Trump expressed appreciation to both Musk and the rest of the Cabinet for uncovering the alleged waste and fraud. Trump said, "We've had many fraudulent contracts that were caught by the work that Elon and his people are doing. And working with our people, it's been brought to light. The fraud, not just waste and abuse, the fraud has been incredible."
According to reports, Musk has voiced strong support for the SBA's latest policy to curb fraud involving stolen Social Security numbers. In a post on X, Musk wrote, "No more loans to babies or people too old to be alive (i.e. stolen Social Security numbers)." The new SBA rule mandates that all applicants provide their date of birth and bars individuals under 18 or over 120 years old from receiving direct loans.
This change in policy follows reports of fraudulent activity, including an alleged 157-year-old successfully obtaining a $36,000 loan. The SBA's updated verification process is in response to disturbing revelations about fraud in federal loan programs. According to DOGE, during 2020-2021 alone, 3,095 loans worth $333 million were issued to individuals listed as over 115-years-old.
