The law enforcement death discusses the devastating loss of 23-year old Jacob Derbin, who was ambushed by a gunman in Ohio.
As if police officers weren’t already going through a nightmare in the United States (with the loss of funding and anger continuing over the “defund the police” campaign), now they’re becoming the target of sudden ambushes.
Over the weekend, Euclid police officer Jacob Derbin was ambushed by a gunman during a disturbance call to a residence. He was shot, and though he was rushed to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, Deshawn Anthony Vaughn, went on the run. Police later engaged in a manhunt, where they found him dead inside a residence.
The saddest part about all this is that Derbin was just 23 years old – at the very start of his career. Yet, because of Vaughn planning this cowardly and devastating ambush, his friends and family are now left with no answers.
So how do police move forward, knowing people such as this can set up attacks like these without warning? Joining us to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt.
Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His knowledge in all things law and order make him a great subject for this interview. Welcome, Michael.
