Separate stabbing incidents lead to two injured in Philly | Law Enforcement Today

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Authorities with the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) announced that they are investigating after a pair of stabbings across the city early Sunday, February 9th, left two people hospitalized.

According to NBC10, police said that the first incident happened around 2:39 a.m. on North Philadelphia when a 22-year-old man was stabbed nearly 12 times in an attack that happened along the 1400 block of North 15th Street. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Shortly after, Temple University identified the victim as a recent graduate. School officials said the injured man was found on the third floor of an apartment building that houses a Greek organization that is not currently recognized by the school due to previous infractions. The injured man is allegedly a member of that organization.

Temple officials said that along with the city, the school is conducting its own investigation into the incident. In an afternoon update, police announced that they made an arrest in that incident. CBS News reported that the suspect is also a member of the same Greek organization. Anyone with any additional information regarding the incident is asked to contact Temple's Department of Public Safety at 215-204-1234.

The suspect in that incident is a 23-year-old man. His identity has not yet been released, but police said he will likely face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related offenses. A few hours after that stabbing incident, another incident took place in West Philadelphia when a 30-year-old man was stabbed in his hand.

In that incident, police said the victim suffered a laceration to his right hand at 4:09 a.m. along the 5200 block of Market Street. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries and listed in stable condition.

Officials said that in that incident, police do have a "person of interest" currently in custody and investigators have recovered the weapon that they believe was used in the incident. Both incidents remain under investigation. In a separate incident, a Temple University student was shot and killed and another was taken into custody after what police suspect was a drug-related shooting.

According to CBS News, PPD said the shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th, on the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street, near the Temple Nest off-campus apartments. When police arrived on scene, they found a 20-year-old man in the street between two parked cars. He had been shot in the chest and was unresponsive. The university identified the victim as Chase Myles, an undergraduate student in the Klein College of Media and Communication.

Myles was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. According to the university, Myles was involved in a fight with a 23-year-old and that the two were known to each other. They had planned to meet Thursday night. The 23-year-old has since been identified as Nicholas Iaderosa from North Philadelphia.

He was arrested and has been charged with murder and other related offenses. PPD Chief Inspector Scott Small said, "We don't know if it was a robbery or some other altercation, but we believe it may have been narcotics-related because we have a clear green bag that appears to be filled with marijuana on the scene ... we found the bag right next to his body and in the bad, there is a handgun."

Small said Iaderosa stayed on scene and cooperated with police, who took his gun. Myles was with another man at the time of the shooting, who is being interviewed by police. There were two spent shell casings on the scene.
