POLK COUNTY, TX - Texas Rangers have arrested one of two men wanted for the fatal shooting of Fort Worth rapper Lil Ronnie and his five-year-old daughter.
According to CBS News, Lil Ronnie and his daughter were fatally shot at a car wash earlier in the week. Police arrested 24-year-old Adonis Robinson on Thursday, March 6th, in Livingston. Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez issued an alert for Robinson and 21-year-old Jakobie Russell on Wednesday, March 5th.
Both men are facing capital murder charges. Lil Ronnie, 30, and his young daughter were gunned down while he was vacuuming his vehicle just before 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3rd at Slappy's Car Wash.
During a press conference on Thursday, Hernandez said, "We want to reassure the community that the Forest Hill Police Department and our law enforcement partners are continuing efforts to resolve this case and bring justice to the victims and their families."
Hernandez called the two suspects "cowards," adding, "Now we've identified two cowards who took the lives of these innocent people. We have public enemy No. 1, Adonis Robinson, who's also a registered sex offender. Public enemy No. 2, Jakobie Russell, who's on the run. They're scared. They're cowards."
Robinson was released from prison in August 2024 and has convictions for sexual assault and failing to register as a sex offender. Russell has convictions for assault, including against a pregnant person, and unlawful weapon carrying. Hernandez said investigators are still working to figure out a motive, but said they believe it was a targeted crime.
Police responded to Slappy's Car Wash just before 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3rd. One witness said that they heard 20 to 30 gunshots. Police said the suspects exited a white, four-door Kia and approached the victim's vehicle, which was stationary in a bay at the car wash. The suspects opened fire and fled the area.
According to FOX4, family spokesperson Bishop Rodney McIntosh said that the young girl was just dropped off to her father at the car wash minutes before the deadly gunfire. He said, "The mother wants everyone to know she is heartbroken, and she is grieving. On behalf of the mother, I would ask them to do the right thing and come forward."
Police have not said how the suspects knew Lil Ronnie, but they say "they music industry" is part of the investigation. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation with the assistance of the Forest Hill Criminal Division, Fort Worth Police Department, Everman Police Department, Kennedale Police Department, an Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
