Non-profit InVest USA equipping Border Patrol to take on cartels and secure the border | Law Enforcement Today

Michael Letts, a LEO advocate, political analyst, and CEO/Founder of the nonprofit organization InVest USA has been advocating for a secure American border for years. He understands the complex nature of unchecked illegal immigration and how it impacts national security.

He, like many patriotic Americans, wants to make America safe. One of President Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan’s first course of action is to make swift and efficient mass deportations of illegal immigrants, starting with the most dangerous.

They also want to secure the border to prevent future illegal immigration. Although many Americans may believe that’s as simple as closing a door, the reality is it is complicated. And the complication starts with the sheer size of the southern border.

“Texas takes you two days to get through, that is a huge border area,” Letts said in a recent podcast. “It’s just wide-open, wide-open spaces. And here’s what’s so sad. I was with Sheriff Carillo and here we’ve got two or three guys (officers) and they’ve got two or three hundred miles among themselves to cover. How can you possibly cover that kind of territory?”

With that amount of space, these officers cannot rely on backup should a serious incident occur. They understand they are virtually alone and must enforce the law as such. Under these circumstances, it is crucial to have the right equipment. That’s where an organization like InVest USA steps in.

“They desperately need the ability to protect and defend themselves. And we were able to come in and make sure those who didn’t have vests, we were able to allocate them,” Letts said.

“Having been down there on the border, I have seen the Mexican military escort drug cartels across. I have seen the drug cartels on the other side of the river shooting .50 cals over the heads of law enforcement officers on American soil just to kind of taunt them. They [cartels] are saying, ‘We’ve got the ability to take you out and you don’t have the ability to defend yourselves’. It is really a life and death situation,” Letts said.
