GOT HIM!! Texas kidnapping suspect caught after police chase | Law Enforcement Today

WHITE SETTLEMENT, TX - Police have arrested a suspect with a criminal background wanted for kidnapping after a pursuit that ended in a crash in Fort Worth, Texas. The suspect has been identified as 52-year-old Reginald Jameson.

According to FOX 4, the incident began with a 911 call on Friday, December 13th, from inside of the Walmart located in Westworth Village. The caller, a female, told the dispatcher that she had been kidnapped. She claimed that the suspect was in a white van with Wisconsin plates waiting in the parking lot.

When officers arrived at the store, they said they saw a white van matching that description take off. White Settlement police officers spotted the van at a red light on Highway 183 and activated their lights and sirens, indicating for the van to pull over. The van, however, sped off, sparking a police pursuit.

Police said that Jameson drove through two red lights and crashed into a van and a pickup truck at the intersection of Camp Bowie Boulevard and Alta Mere Drive in Fort Worth. The chase, however, did not top there after the crash.

White Settlement Police Officer Chris Cook said in a statement, "That didn't stop him, of course, because he doesn't care what he's doing. He's trying to get away. He gets out of the van after the crash, starts running on foot. He ran through some restaurants. Ends up crossing back across Camp Bowie Boulevard then tried to get into another business scaling a fence."

Body camera footage shows an officer using his taser on Jameson as two other officers arrived on scene to help put handcuffs on him and arrest him. Cook said, "Just grateful that our officers were in the right place at the right time and that he was not able to get away. Because that was his plan: to get as far away. Once he realized the woman had been able to get out of his van, he was gonna try to get out of here."

Cook said the woman who was kidnapped appeared to be okay. She said she had been held against her will since Sunday, December 8th. A mom and her children were in the van that was hit at the red light, but they were not seriously injured. Jameson reportedly has a lengthy criminal record and was wanted for a family violence case in Wisconsin.

Jameson has been booked into the Tarrant County jail. He faces several charges, including kidnapping, evading arrest, and assault family violence. According to WFAA, Cook said in a statement, "I am extremely proud of the heroic actions by our police team, and we are thankful that this woman was able to be rescued by officers safely. This case demonstrates the dangers that exist when officers face violent felons who refuse to give up and flee without any regard to our communities and officers."

"We are grateful that no innocent people of officers were seriously injured based upon the dangerous driving actions by this offender and that this victim of the kidnapping will be okay. We are also thankful for the outstanding partnership between our city, Westworth Village and Fort Worth."
