The law enforcement veteran discusses how the country could be placed in peril – and wonders why the government isn’t doing more about it.
There’s no question that China has some animosity with the United States right now, especially where ownership of Taiwan is concerned. But the real question is if this could result in some sort of devastating attack down the line.
We’ve already seen the country attempt to infiltrate the U.S. with secret police stations and the weather balloon incident. But cyberattacks are becoming a much bigger cause for concern.
FBI Director Christopher Wray has warned that the country has managed to access companies in the U.S. that specialize in telecommunications, water and energy, and one particularly placed hack could bring it all crashing down. In fact, China has already attacked America’s power grid more than 70 times over the past year, with no signs of slowing.
A report indicates that China simply needs to attack nine of the 55,000 electrical substations across the U.S., and that would be enough to send thousands into darkness for up to eighteen months – no communications, no power, no anything.
So why isn’t the Biden administration and his coordinating offices more concerned about this matter? Joining us to discuss this further is Michael Letts, a law enforcement veteran with over 30 years of experience under his belt.
Letts is President, Founder and CEO of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. His knowledge in all things law and order make him a great subject for this interview. Welcome, Michael!
Q&A:
- How concerned are you right now with China’s ability to launch a cyberattack on the United States?
- Why do you think the Biden administration aren’t equally concerned about such an attack, despite several having taken place in the past?
- Do you possibly see such an attack taking place in the months ahead, especially as the situation grows uneasy between China and the United States?
- What can U.S. citizens do to prepare for such a situation, should they be left without power and telecommunications for a long period of time?
- What should the Biden administration do as well? Does it seem concerning they’re not lending much support to the investigation currently proceeding through the Republican’s judiciary committee?
- You’re the creator of InVest USA, an organization that provides bulletproof vests to police officers through various charitable groups and sponsorships. Tell us more about that, and why support for fellow officers is so important right now.
- Where can we learn more about InVest USA, and how those interested can help their fellow officers.
