CENTENNIAL, CO - A team of brazen criminals stole two puppies in broad daylight from a busy Colorado pet store on February 23. A press release from The Arapaho County Sheriff revealed that one of the suspects, identified as Timothy Davis, 37, allegedly faked a seizure distracting store employees while one of his accomplices stole two bulldog puppies worth $4,299 each. Davis was arrested at the store, his alleged accomplices are still at large.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, “One of the men allegedly faked a seizure to distract the employees, while another suspect ran over to the pen, pulled the top off and grabbed both the puppies. He then ran toward the front door.”
Investigators said that an intrepid employee attempted to tackle the man, “and he fell to the ground dropping the puppies. He managed to get up, pick up the two puppies, and run out the front door with another male. A gold Cadillac Escalade then pulled up to the front of the store, both suspects got inside the vehicle, and it took off. There is no description of a fourth suspect who was driving the Cadillac, who we believe is a female.”
Investigators with Arapahoe County described the two unnamed suspects as “black male who was wearing a large black coat and sweatpants. The other is a white or Hispanic male who was wearing a blue and white beanie-style hat and had brown hair.”
The authorities posted surveillance footage of the heist to X.
The department later announced that a good Samaritan returned one of the stolen puppies after hearing about the theft on the news. She reportedly purchased the puppy from a street vendor for $1,500. The store manager Bianca Larsen told local news outlet KDVR that she intended to sell one of the puppies to a friend and the other to another store owner according to Fox News, adding, "It’s sad that you know, this puppy doesn’t get to go live this amazing life with a deserving family and home instead because someone doesn’t have any morals," she said.
