WASHINGTON, DC- Joe Biden likes to claim that he is a “staunch supporter of the police.” As evidence, he offers the political hacks who served on the US Capitol Police Department and who have leveraged the January 6, 2021 “insurrection that wasn’t” into being favored guests of anti-Trump networks like MSNBC and CNN as proof. However, when the rubber hits the road, Biden shows his true colors as his latest unhinged anti-police move shows.
Last week, Biden added to his list of pardons and clemencies of convicted criminals two men who brutally killed Sussex County, Virginia police officer Allen Gibson in 1998. The announcement of Biden’s action got the attention of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R).
Biden always pretended he was pro-police and wrapped himself in the blue flag. But granting clemency to these cop killers is proof that it was just another lie, of a piece with his covert sympathy for the defund-the-police movement in 2020 https://t.co/VzIG8sKTG8

In a news release, Youngkin slammed Biden’s decision to issue clemency to the two cop killers:
“I am beyond outraged and in utter disbelief that President Biden would announce clemency for Ferrone Claiborne and Terence Richardson–two men who admitted for being responsible for brutally killing Officer Allen Gibson, a hero and dedicated servant to our community,” Youngkin said. “What makes this even more unconscionable is the Biden U.S. Attorney advised the White House not to commute these sentences as they are violent offenders. The pain and sorrow this clemency causes the Gibson family is unimaginable. To know that the men who took Officer Gibson’s life will walk free is not just a grave injustice–it is a heartbreaking blow to those who continue to mourn his sacrifice. This is despicable; a grim day for justice and for the families who trust that our system will hold the guilty accountable.”
Under the terms of Biden’s action, the two thugs are scheduled to be released in July. Both men admitted to killing Officer Gibson. Youngkin’s office said that “the evidence presented and the details surrounding Officer Gibson’s death are deeply disturbing and tragic.”
Youngkin’s office noted that President Obama refused to grant clemency to the two men.
Virginia Attorney General Jason S. Miyares also slammed Biden’s decision, according to WWBT-12 in Richmond.
“If the Democrats intend to build their vision of social justice on a pile of dead law enforcement officers, they could send no stronger message than the one they sent today,” said Miyares. “The decision not to pardon but merely commute the sentence of Terrence Richardson only supports our position that he is, in fact, guilty of manslaughter. This office will continue to exhaust itself in seeking justice for the family of Officer Allen Gibson and ensuring that those involved are held to account.”
Meanwhile, Gibson’s daughter, Crissana Gibson, also called out Biden’s decision.
“I am absolutely outraged by what has happened. My heart is shattered knowing that the men that killed my father are going to be released from prison and can walk the streets freely,” she said. “This is a huge miscarriage of justice, and I am completely disgusted by the outgoing administration.
“The Virginia Attorney General’s office has worked tirelessly to keep these murderers behind bars, and I am forever grateful for their dedication and hard work. I am so disappointed that the disgraceful Biden administration has failed my family, my father, and the entire law enforcement community. Neither my family nor I have ever supported the release of Richardson or Claiborne, and we denounce this decision by the outgoing failed presidency of Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’s abuse of the justice system.”
WAVY-10 received a statement from Richardson’s attorney, who attempted to justify the clemency deal.
“Governor Youngkin and Jason Miyares are unfortunately using the daughter of Officer Gibson as a political pawn to shield the public from the fact that there is zero evidence of guilt, and they are using the commonwealth’s resources and energy to obstruct justice by maintaining a bogus guilty plea instead of finding out the truth of what really happened to Officer Gibson,” Attorney Jarrett Adams said.
According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, Gibson, 25, with only two months on the department, was shot and killed while confronting Richardson and Claiborne amid a drug deal while on foot patrol in Waverly, Virginia.
A struggle ensued, and one of the suspects got hold of his firearm, shooting him once in the abdomen, just below his ballistic vest. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
One of the suspects was arrested the next day, while the second was later arrested.
The suspects were initially charged with capital murder, however, a plea deal, opposed by Gibson’s family, was agreed to by the two suspects. On Dec. 8, 1999, the shooter pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to five years in prison. The second suspect pleaded guilty to acting as an accessory after the fact and was sentenced to twelve months in prison.
In 2002, both suspects faced drug charges in federal court in connection with the drug offenses leading to Gibson’s death. Both men were convicted and sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole.
At the time of his slaying, Gibson was married, and his daughter was only 8 years old.
Biden’s latest action is among a string of pardons, commutations, and clemencies he has issued in the waning days of his pathetic administration. While Biden claims they are being given only to “non-violent” offenders, one might think killing a cop fits that definition.
However, when you’re a demented cognitive mess, anything goes. Biden’s latest action is an insult to every man or woman who puts on the uniform every day in our country. Thank God it’s over.
