Suspect 'considered armed and dangerous' at large after stabbing off-duty officer multiple times | Law Enforcement Today

ATLANTA, GA- Justin Perry Hurst, 37, of Alpharetta, GA, is being sought by the c and is “considered armed and dangerous,” according to deputies after allegedly stabbing an off-duty Atlanta Police Officer following a hit-and-run crash on Saturday night.

As reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the manhunt for Hurst was still underway as of Sunday. The outlet reported that Hurst is accused of crashing into the officer’s car and sped away.  The initial accident reportedly happened on the Interstate 20 in DeKalb County. The officer followed the suspect to get his license plate number and confronted him in a Rockdale County parking lot where the officer was allegedly stabbed multiple times.

According to Fox5 Atlanta the officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment, was released and is now recovering. Hurst was witnessed fleeing the scene in a white 2019 VW Passat with Georgia tag CWC3082.

In a post to X, the Atlanta Police Department issued a BOLO (Be-On-the-Look-Out) for Hurst writing, “BOLO: On 1/18/25, an off-duty APD officer was stabbed after a road rage incident in Conyers, GA. The Rockdale Co Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. APD stands in solidarity w/RCSO to ensure that the suspect is apprehended. INFO? Contact CrimeStoppers 404-577-8477” The Atlanta Police Department said in a statement to Fox News, “While the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is the lead in this investigation, the Atlanta Police Department stands in solidarity with them to ensure that the suspect is apprehended. We are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to please contact CrimeStoppers or the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office."
