Award.

Michael Letts, CEO of InVestUSA of Columbia, South Carolina, announced that his organization is bestowing the InVest USA Heroism Award to five Phoenix Police Department officers shot on the line of duty while rescuing an infant child.

Jeri Williams, Phoenix Police Chief, indicated that the incident happened when the police officers were responding to reports of gunfire. She said the suspect fired multiple times at the first officer on the scene. Next, a man placed a baby in a carrier on the porch.

When officers headed toward the front porch to rescue the child, someone inside fired shots at the law enforcement officers again. Remarkably, the suspect kept firing at police officers as they were getting the child out of harm’s way. Four more officers were shot during that rescue.

Said Michael Letts, “We tragically are reminded of the incredible price our law enforcement officers–America’s Hero’s– are willing to pay to save the life of a stranger, especially an infant.”

“Making sure our officers are fully equipped with the protection they need to return safely to their families becomes more urgent daily as this becomes the deadliest time in history for our targeted First Responders. We are committed to protecting those who protect us, and ask all Americans to join us in support and most importantly in prayer,” said Letts.
